Beaches & Bays
There’s no doubt that Koh Kood’s main attraction is its stunning beaches. Beaches on the west coast are accessible by road, while beaches on the north and east coast can only be visited by boat. Hop on a scooter and find your favorite postcard-worthy beach on the island or kayak through mangrove-lined canals from the beach to the beach.

A small beach guide:

Klong Chao Beach: Most popular and crowded, with touristy infrastructure.

Bang Bao: Horseshoe-shaped bay. Scenic beach with wooden piers to enjoy views. Great for snorkeling. Touristy infrastructure.

Ao Noi: Picturesque beach which is part of Ao Noi Resort. Officially only for guests of the resort.

Yai Kee Beach: Beach in the northwest, accessible by a sandy track behind the main road. Very tranquil, with no touristy infrastructure.

Soneva Kiri Beach, Secret Sunset Beach, Klong Han Beach: Beaches in the northwest. Take a kayak or scooter to go to the first two. Very tranquil. No touristy infrastructure.

Ao Tapao Beach: Longest beach on the island. Few resorts, and 500 meters of undeveloped beach. Temple nearby.

Ngam Kho Beach: Tranquil beach lined by coconut trees. No touristy infrastructure. Rocky parts of the beach in the south.

Ao Phrao Beach: Southernmost beach. Less crowded with a few resorts and a fishing community at the western end of the beach. The sea can get rough when windy.

Upon arrival on the island, you will likely want to spend time relaxing on the beach and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. However, there is much more to explore. The Khlong Chao area serves as the hub of activity, offering affordable accommodations, dining options, and several dive shops for underwater adventures.

A must-see is Ao Yai, a charming fishing village located on the southeastern coast of Koh Kood. Here, you can indulge in fresh seafood, take in scenic viewpoints, and arrange fishing or snorkeling excursions with the local residents.

Visiting one of Koh Kood’s waterfalls is a great way to enjoy the island’s natural beauty. The popular Klong Chao Waterfall can be reached by kayaking along the Klong Chao River or by taking a jungle trek. It’s best to plan your visit for the morning or afternoon to avoid large crowds. For a more secluded experience, consider visiting Klong Yai Ki during the wet season or exploring the remote Huang Nam Keaw Waterfall deep within the jungle.

To fully explore the island, renting a scooter is the best option for getting around. Be sure to catch the breathtaking sunset views at Ao Tapao or Klong Chao Beach.
