Around the city of Nong Khai, you can find different activities. Some are close to the center, and others require a day trip, but they are unique and worth the time.

Let’s start with the close ones. Many travelers visit the exciting skywalk east of the city, which is a big glass bridge built on the edge of a mountain and offers an amazing view across the Mekong River, Nong Khai, and Laos.

The Sala Kaeo Ku is a sculpture park with bizarre-looking statues of Buddhism and Hindu mythology. It is located 4 km (2.5 miles) east of the city center and is easy to reach via tuk-tuk, motorbike, or even bicycle. The beautiful green and calm park is perfect for photography and for connecting with the mythology of Asian religions.

A bit further away but a unique adventure is Phu Tok Mountain. The temple on top of the mountain is accessible via wooden planks, which wrap around the mountain. The hike is adventurous and hard, but reaching the top is one of the most satisfying feelings and you get rewarded with a beautiful temple and an astonishing view. Not only is the destination worth a visit, but the roads to the mountains also contain beautiful nature and exciting roads to discover.
